Rounding Up to Date

Wednesday Evening saw just a couple of takers for the Twisted Log Cabin project, though a couple more had sneaked a pattern and had started at home.
This is not a quick project, but can result in some spectacular designs
getting started
two more colourways
And around the room there was a few finished items to show and some that are in progress

This is Amanda's finished Celtic Quilt
very striking
You may remember that last week Jackie had got in a fuddle over her fabric to letter choice
Well they are all ironed on and ready to go now.

Jackie had also received a rather lovely Thank You card from someone she had made a quilt for. They have never sewn before and went to a class especially to learn how to do this card!!

Linda is still working on her Artist Impression piece.
Louise has finished the top of her Kaffe Fassett quilt
very colourful
Nicky & Sue are making a panelled cushion - I expect it will be completed by next week!

And then Mondays girls are finishing off the Twisted Log Cabins that they started last week.

Ellen's dotty colours have made a fab cushion
Carol is adding borders to her vibrant colours
We had a variety of different blocks that were waiting for their partners

They are coming on great ladies and are so worth all that angst - really!

Shirley was quilting a block that has been hanging around for a while
Jo has been trialling some mini designs for our All Day in September.  This one measures 3" across

A step too far do you think??
Three of our members are participating in a monthly Mini make. Here are their April offerings. It is funny that they are all on a similar colour theme - that was not part of the brief
I think they are still open to new members if you fancy a go
You can read more on J's & L's blogs

we had three late arrivals for the Artist Impression Challenge
 Great work ladies!

Oh... and (drum roll here)..... Chris has been in full production and I have it on good authority (Kay) that 10 of these cute doves had been completed this afternoon

We have another Bank Holiday Monday here next week so we will just be meeting on Wednesday evening.

Have a great weekend!!

Around The Twist

Or that's how some of our lovely ladies seemed as Ena and Shirley showed us how to create a Twisted Log Cabin Block

Suffice to say - one of these was in constant use ....

 You get the scene?

But you know our girls - they will NOT be beaten
adding colour strips
oooh! it's coming on...
Never Give UP
a coffee break might help...
Looking Good!
Ena was running around the room like the proverbial. It seems that we may have more members to move to that .... "Special" corner.

But as always the ladies came up trumps with some lovely blocks

It's easy when you know how!

All went home for a lie down in a darkened room but had had a great day.

Thank you Ena and Shirley for helping to make another great All Day!!

 **************************

One of our followers has had a clear out of her fabrics and today I received two boxes of fat 1/4's and more that have been donated for us to make charity items!
packed full of goodies

I feel a production line coming on....

Thank you to reader Shirley - we will send photos of the items made.

Some New things

To show you from Wednesday evening

Lynda is just adding some embroidery to her latest baby quilt, this is for a Great Neice
pretty thread
Sue & Nicky have been making some cushions  ( a wedding present) . They have now mastered the art of putting a zip in VERY neatly - Well done girls!!

Maggie is  working on another block from her "Gardeners Journal" quilt

And Carol is adding more thread to her beautiful embroidery. This is a project that she works on with a group of embroiderers.
Lovely work
Brenda is hand sewing some Drunkards Path blocks - these are for a child's "Jigsaw" quilt

Beverley is busy tying scraps to rope to make one of Jackie's hangers
 More embroidered blocks from Sue
And Christine has pieced this lovely table-runner
Love the soft colours with a bold border
Jackie is making a panel with a design that came from a birthday card. Her neighbours were making her very confused with the order of the colours for her letters!!
who needs friends!
Nicky has been busy, as well as those cushions she has managed to finish a (rather large) table-runner
bright spring colours here
Some of us are thinking of going to Fibre East at the end of July - would it be worth running a coach?? The cost would probably be around £20 including the entrance ticket. Let Carol or Lesley know if you are interested.

After The Break

I think that we all have benefited from a short break over the Easter period.
Though some may have turned up last Wednesday and some ready for an "All Day" today, and that's not till next week!

It's nice to know that our members are so keen.

We had another addition to our Challenge pieces.....
Therese had done much research before applying her interpretation of Kasimir Malevich's "Black Square" (c1915)
but she did a great job didn't she!
Everyone seemed relaxed and chatty and Di was busy choosing the position of a pair of doll legs.

This will be a partner to the one she has finished

Chris has put her Teddy cushion to one side for the moment and is making a letter holder that has a Red Work panel
Pauline is sewing a hexagon panel that will be added to a bag

Love red and white!
Ena and Glennys are both making little lampshades - these sit atop a champagne glass with a "living flame" tea light in.

so sweet!
Shirley is working on her "Insanity" hexagon projext. I think the pattern

I think this is from 2008/9
was for a bed quilt with over 11000 half inch hexagons.

..........Shirley has decided to make a cushion.......
One of our members that has moved "up north" was also making this quilt. I will see if I can get her to send a progress report

Barbara is using a baby's mobile pattern to create some cute animals that she will attach key rings to. These will be sold on our sales table in September
Love the Giraffe
And she has used the same magazine to make some oversize finger puppets that she will pop a lolly into.
Someone was quietly working on her "art challenge" piece. I wonder if she allows movable deadlines at her school?????
Pam had been given two sweet cushions with a Dumbo embroidery on them,  and she was personalising them for her Grandchildren
to prevent arguments
Jan is still busy appliquéing animals onto a fun baby quilt
Somene had given a bag of crocheting threads for us to use and these pretties were found in the bag. We will see what they become soon I hope!
very fine thread
A couple of notices have been posted on the board - please take a look at them.

We will shortly need one or two volunteers to collate next years activity programme.  Please don't ignore our request for a bit of help.....
